Foster Application

Thank you for your interest in becoming a foster with Diamonds in the Ruff Animal Rescue!

We are a volunteer-runrescue. Typical response time from one of our volunteers is 24–48 hours. You may be contacted by phone, text, or email, so please keep an eye on your inbox, spam, and voicemail.

To help us move your application forward as smoothly as possible, please review the following:

• If you currently have pets or have had pets in the past, please contact your veterinarian and authorize the release of their records to Diamonds in the Ruff. Applications cannot be fully reviewed without this information.
• If you rent your home, please notify your landlord or property manager that a Diamonds in the Ruff volunteer may contact them to confirm pet approval and any housing or breed restrictions.
• Please let your personal references know that a volunteer from our rescue may be reaching out.

Once your foster application has been submitted, our foster coordinators will begin the approval process:

Step 1 — Application Review

Our team will review your application, lifestyle, experience, and home environment to help determine what type of foster pet may be the best fit for you. During this time, we may contact your references, veterinarian, and landlord if applicable. If we have any questions or feel another foster placement may better match your home, we’ll be in touch.

Step 2 — Home Check

If your application is approved, a volunteer may schedule a home visit or virtual home check. This helps us ensure your home is a safe and comfortable environment for a foster animal while allowing us to learn more about your household, routine, and any resident pets.

Step 3 — Foster Match

Once approved, we’ll work with you to match you with a foster pet based on your home, schedule, experience, and comfort level. We’ll provide details about your foster’s personality, needs, and care requirements so you feel fully prepared before bringing them home.

Step 4 — Welcome to the DITR Foster Family

Once your foster arrives, you’ll provide a safe, loving temporary home while our team supports you throughout the journey. We’ll guide you with medical care, supplies when available, adoption updates, and anything else you may need along the way.
